Self-employed, full-time teleworker. Attractive, but not for everyone!

Everyone dreams of it, but how many are willing to do what it takes to make it happen?

What does it take to become a self-employed “self-entrepreneur” from home? And thus have the chance to work from anywhere in the world?

Simple, a good idea, balls and a good internet connection!

We are in an age where technology allows us endless possibilities.

Whether buying and reselling online, working as a “freelance” in writing or translation, as a writer, in “talent hunting” recruitment, anything is possible. Only have to choose.

It is not, however, for everyone to make the jump. You have to be highly disciplined and not be afraid of loneliness.

Being self-employed or a “self-entrepreneur” is a solo career. Even though we work collaboratively and interact with other people, basically, we are solo.

So if you need to be part of a herd, forget it. It’s not for you. Self-employed people are lone wolves.

The past two years, mainly due to the pandemic, have opened the door to remote work for us, which is an excellent thing, in my opinion.

I have worked from home and worldwide for almost 15 years now, and I can assure you that I would never return to an office job standardized to older generations.

This type of work is outdated and very often not at all motivating.

You have an idea that can help others fill a need, now is the best time to get started.

You don’t have to drop everything right away to do this. This type of work allows you to start little by little, part-time if necessary. That helps you have the funds required to survive while your business is not earning the expected income.

But it’s not easy. That will take time. You can compare this type of work to investing in the stock market. It pays off in the long run.

Do not believe everything they say on blogs and forums on the net. People who only work a few hours a week are exceptions to the rule. Personally, I only know a few, mainly because they worked like mad in the past, sold their businesses, and now they have a different life thanks to their hard work in the past.

Unless you are born into a golden pram, very few people will have this chance in their lifetime, but then again, is it really luck?

The highest quality necessary for all projects of this type is and always will be “discipline.”

Without discipline, don’t even think about it. It will only remain a beautiful dream.

Many people have fantastic ideas but lack the discipline to complete and bring their projects to fruition.

Having the necessary discipline means:

Say no to beer on a Friday night with friends; Stop wasting time on social networks; That is to refuse a camping weekend because you have to complete an important project by the following Monday; That is, accepting that you are not up to date in tracking TV series on Netflix; It is to live according to our goals and not those of our relatives and friends; It is by having this passion that stems from our vision of the future that we want to create;

Quite simply, saying no to anything that takes us away from our project …

Are you ready for this kind of sacrifice?

In addition, I would say that what is even more critical, if you are in a relationship with or without children, is the support and contribution of your spouse in your entrepreneurial project.

It will be challenging if this point of detail is missing at the start. There is nothing more gruelling and demotivating than being caught between your business and spouse. You owe it to yourself to take care of this from the start. Before you even get started.

On the other hand, if you are lucky, like me, to have this spouse who participates in your project and supports you 100%, there will be no limits to what you can achieve.

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t get caught up in dogma — which is to live with the results of the thoughts of others. Don’t let the noise of other people’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most importantly, have the courage to follow your heart and your intuition. They already know what you really want to become. Everything else is secondary. (Steve Jobs)

To those words, I would add that we must stop listening to lazy people. Those who are sheep with a lion’s roar. They are the seal crabs. They will always try to bring you back to their level. No one likes to feel diminished in front of others, especially when he’s a friend.

I wish you a wonderful year, 2022 and I wish you all the success you deserve!
