Oh, sweet procrastination, what have you done to me?
First, EXCUSES and PROCRASTINATION are the same thing.
We all have good excuses. Some are legitimate, like when you have kids to care for, and others aren’t as well-founded, though.
When having a family, spare time is rare and precious, and when you have some, you are too tired to put it to good use most of the time.
But when you do not have kids or parents’ responsibilities, there are no excuses to do what you must!
As life goes by, we tend to find ourselves trapped in “the hamster wheel” of trying to have a successful life.
We want “the” career, house, car, perfect wife and kids, vacations, etc. In fact, we want to reach the dream life we were sold to.
Unfortunately, as soon as we reach a certain level of success, we find ourselves trapped in the payments and credits wheel, which is almost impossible to get out of except by having more income and stop increasing our expenses.
How many of us are in this situation, or were we once in it?
The hardest part is to change our behaviour towards our spending habits.
Do we need subscriptions to all the Netflix in the world?
Do we need to go on vacations bought from the credit card?
Do we need to have an 80K$+ car?
Do we need to have a 1000$ smartphone?
To all this and more, the answer is NO, of course, but we all get into it in one way or another.
That is where “Excuses” come in line!
We want a better life without all that money stress but are unwilling to give up any of the “not necessary” things and gadgets we wasted our money and time on.
We all procrastinate when it’s time to work more instead of watching Netflix.
Do you know that in 2022, an average person watched Netflix for 61.3 minutes daily, which is still increasing yearly?
OK, it is not that much, you will say, but it is still 7 hours per week, which becomes about four full working days per month. That is a lot of time lost.
I am not judging anyone here; I am part of the lot, too. It is also to show that I can do better with my time.
I can watch documentaries that teach me new skills instead of series that show us how to kill!
Television is one of the most “time-wasting” habits we can have, in my opinion.
I also found that the more you waste your time, the more you will do it.
When you start a TV series, you want to watch it all as soon as possible.
Procrastination is addictive!
So what to do to correct the course?
How can we come to have more respect for our time?
First, we should be conscious of why we procrastinate and make excuses.
Second, cut little by little your wasted time. It will be easier than stopping everything in one shut. Find ways to improve the quality of your time consumption.
