The “I don’t care” at its lowest level! Where are we going?

God knows how much some individuals can be a complete disappointment!

Thursday late afternoon, and it was a hell of a day today. Not because it was busy but because of some people’s lack of respect.

Most of you know that I am a recruiter. I have been doing that fantastic job for more than 25 years now, and it has never been so difficult as it is becoming since the pandemic’s beginning.

Just in the last two days, I had settled up five interviews, and three of them never showed up, nor have they called or texted. No explanations. Nothing.

What is happening with our behaviour towards each other?

Where is the respect in our interactions? It seems we lost our manners. Why do more and more people act like that?

I genuinely don’t get it.

It is not only the new generations. It seems that people of all ages don’t care anymore. The ego has become too big.

Even in Socrate’s time, it was quite the same argument about the young generation. Unfortunately, the lack of respect for almost everything is spread across all ages nowadays.

“The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers.” — Socrates.

Still the same thing all the time: Do we never learn from the past?

It rushed me out of myself. I tried not to become angry but, I just couldn’t.

And you know, the biggest issue is that there are no consequences for those irresponsible people. They can do whatever they want, and nothing will happen.

A few years ago, with some other recruitment partners, we tried to make a deal with the Canadian unemployment board agents.

The deal was to denounce those who didn’t want to work and use the system to their advantage — the “no show” ones.

You can easily imagine the ending. It has never worked because of the lack of willingness of the government’s agents.

We do not have the resources to deal with this — Bla Bla Bla.

Come on, our government who knows all about our banking accounts, our spending habits, even what we eat for breakfast and when we go shit!

Is there someone who can explain how our government’s bodies cannot do anything against that plague?

I have more than enough of that bunch of crap peoples who makes all the troubles in my work life.

I work hard to help them, thinking they are genuine in their search. To help my clients find the best employees, so much needed nowadays and, they don’t bother to show the basics of respect.

From where I came from, my generation learned not to spit to the hand which feeds us.

So what has happened since? What have we missed to do? Or not to do?

Is there someone out there who can give us a true answer?
