What is the way to succeed in everything?

So how to succeed in everything in life?

It is not rocket science. Here is what you need to do.

Long term Goals

That is the first step you will have to do. I am always astonished by how many people don’t have any goals in their life. They follow the mood day after day like a kite in the wind.

About the way, you might feel goals. It could be restrictive sometimes, but it all depends on how you manage your time. Call it whatever you want, but you need to write down what is crucial for you in the long term. What do you expect to achieve in your life? Who do you want to become? Where and how do you want to live? There are so many questions you can ask yourself about. And of course, there will always be more new questions to come as you age.

It would be best if you worked your goals with the 80%-20% system. Like this, it will help you focus only on what is really in line with the primary objective. It will help you not to be too restrain and then quit or give up. Put your effort on the 20% that align with your primary goal and bring 80% of the results into it. Have fun doing it. Do not overstress yourself to achieve it.

Just enjoy the ride. Keep in mind that Rome as not been built in two days!

Be the best you can be

Be the best in your craft. Do not stop learning. The main thing here is to try to learn something new every day. Read books, blogs, anything to become better in what you do. Learn stuff that could help you to get where you want to go. Always in line with your main goal. What’s in it for me? Leave the rest aside. Do not waste your time with crap.

In the same way, try to do one new thing every single day. Learning is good, but you need to put it on practice. Acquiring new skills is always a winner in the long term. So practice and apply what you’ve learned.

Do you want to get where you want faster? That’s is the way. Learn and practice. As Nike* says: Do it!

Focus On Your Own Definition

What is YOUR definition of YOUR success? Here you must take the time to ask yourself if what you want is really yours or the social pressure? Is it what others expect for and from you or, is it intrinsic to you?

Nowadays, social pressure is so hard on us that we have to please everyone and accept almost everything to be accepted and feel that we are IN — what a waste of time and energy. Do not forget that most people do not care about what you want or what you need, only on what they want. So they try to enrol you to their cause. Not yours.

How many friends and relatives you have that asked you once about your goals in life? About what you really love? Not a lot, I am sure. Unfortunately, we live in a selfish era, and it is not decreasing. It will just get worse. Sadly you have to be selfish about your needs and goals.

Emotional Intelligence

Here I must say it is the hardest part to control in your life. As human beings, we are all emotions. We are, too often, drive-by them so, we stop reasoning. You must work on controlling them instead of being controlled by them. Easier to say than to do.

If you focus on your needs, it will be easier, and you will become more comfortable to say NO instead of saying yes to please, even if you do not want to. It is a difficult process, I know, and it will not come without hurt. Trust me; you will not regret becoming upset about what is most important to you. In the same way, stop envy other’s fortune and success. Most of the time, what you see is only the smoke left after a lot of destructive behaviours and misfortunes. — Stay focus on yours. Their realities are not yours. You have different lives and backgrounds.

Another essential thing; try not to talk too much about your goals, mostly when you have good news. Please keep it to yourself. People may not want you to fail, but “bad eyes” are a real thing. Sometimes we are so joyful that we want to share the moment with others, but it is not always a good thing to do. Be more secretive about yourself.

Discipline & Motivation

I always knew that Discipline is the essential key to any achievement. Without it, it is quite impossible to be consistent and persevere in the long term. Discipline yourself.

As for your motivation, it will come easy if you are focus on your goals. When you are thrill about something, the motivation feeds from this excitement. So you have to keep the fire alive. Be excited. If it drops a little, find some videos, readings, or anything that can help you regain your motivation. For me, the best time for this is to go to bed or first thing in the morning. Try it. You will see how easy it is to get back on track. You will feel it after a few minutes.

It is not always easy to stay disciplined and motivated, as you surely know. The day to day life could be tough from time to time. For those moments, you have to stop and take the time to re-stabilize and re-focus. You may have to adjust your goals and reset them to your new reality. That is life. We all have to do it one day or another.

In conclusion

Do not be too hard with yourself. Focus, adapt and move on. Life goes on, and we have to modify it from time to time, like this year, with the Covid-19 virus. We all had to adjust our life in a way or another. It has changed our future, so our goals too.

Everything comes in time. Just enjoy the ride by creating your own road to where you want to go and, sometimes you will take an exit to visit new areas (Covid-19) but, you have to get back to the main road to the destination you want to go. It is just a little detour.

Do what you love the most, and love what you do. That is the key to all success!
